not bad.has great makeup effects (6.5/10)
this horror movie is based on a short story by H.P.Lovecraft.i liked
the movie.i didn't think it was scary,really,but it was different.the
premise is somewhat inventive for that time,as far as i know.it does
however borrow elements from a few other movies.the filmmakers do
skillfully blend horror with the paranormal element.i really liked the
names of the first two main characters.they just seemed to fit the
whole tone of the movie.and the makeup effects are quite well done for
that time.i do think,however,the movie was a bit slow at times,although
not enough to quit watching.there may be some scenes which are too
gross for some people,so if you have a weak stomach,you might want to
either pass on this movie or prepare yourself.for me,From Beyond is a

Quelques bons moments, sans plus
Ce film a un potenciel immense côté histoire mais malheureusement, il est plutôt ordinaire. C'est l'histoire d'une machine qui stimule la glande pinéale, une sorte de troisième oeil mais qui est inerte en temps normal, qui donnerait un 6ième sens et qui permetterait de percevoir pleins de trucs et d'éventuellement d'aller dans l'au delà.
Tout au long du film, nous espérons qu'ils entrent dans l'au delà, dans un monde étrange, effrayant, déboussolant. Malheureusement, ils ne restent qu'au stade de regarder les choses aux alentours, comme des anguilles meurtrières qui volent dans les airs, par exemple.
Cela donne quelques bons moments, comme l'apparition du docteur Prétorius, un ancien savant ayant travaillé sur la machine et qui a osé aller dans l'au delà, qui tente d'amener les utilisateurs de la machine dans ce monde démoniaque. Le docteur est plutôt divertissant avec toutes ses mutations. Il y a aussi un ver géant au sous-sol qui est plutôt dangeureux qui donne de bons moments.
Outre cela, un des personnages dont la glande pinéale a été sortie du crâne nous offre quelques bonnes passes, alors qu'il tente de manger les yeux des gens.
Cependant, cela ne sauve pas le film. C'est dommage.
